Polig Monjarret aimed at preserving the traditional repertoire of the old pipers as well as their characteristic differences. He has made the case that it was worth preserving. In this book we have the results of his constant peregrinations among the breton speaking regions of Brittany. We also have the results of the never ending attention he paid to the old pipers, "...the quacks who could sell wind by the pound" as they said in the "Ancient Customs of Brittany". Polig Monjarret wrote all the tunes himself, including the examples given in forewords, the maps and of course the music in those books. All in all, 6000 hours of very meticulous work.
