Celtic Mandalas
Mandalas are ancient magical, symbolic images that represent ideas of the universe and, in so doing, present a physical and visual tool for meditating. Their intricate compositions are contained within the 'eternal circle' which is equated with the 'Wheel of Life'.
Celtic Mandalas - with their special content from the art of the ancient Celts - invariably have a dual-dimensional format, relating to the belief that it is possible to travel from the earthly realm into the Otherworld of Celtic legend. In this book, noted artist and illustrator Courtney Davis has reconstructed the classical art of the Celts in his own beautiful and vibrant mandalas, which provide meditative subjects and sources for Celtic symbolism, astrology and their archetypal gods and goddesses.

Courtney Davis is now recognized internationally as one of the foremost modern interpreters of the traditional art and graphic symbolism of the Celts. He has achieved great success with some 21 books, including The Celtic Art Source Book, Celtic Borders and Decoration and The Art of Celtia, and these have established a world reputation for his technique and imagery.

The text of Celtic Mandalas has been specially written by Helena Paterson, a professional astrologer of Celtic ancestry, who is also an experienced herbalist. Both are areas of knowledge which she draws on in texts that she has provided for this and other Celtic art projects by Courtney Davis.
